Upper West Siders have their choice of dog runs in Hudson River Park, but the Riverside Park 105th Street Dog Run has a particular treat for owners – a seating area adjacent to the run overlooking the Hudson. Formerly home to Hudson Beach Café, the area is now a pet-friendly public outdoor seating space with tables and chairs.

So bring your own food and drink and take in the sunset with your pup.

The 105th St. Dog Run itself is large with some shade provided from the surrounding trees. Covered in dirt and gravel, the run has benches for owners to sit and running water for when their dogs get thirsty. There is also a separate gated area off to the side for smaller dogs.

105th Street DOg Run RIversideThe Run is overseen by a group of volunteers that receive donations through the Riverside Park Conservancy for its maintenance and upkeep. Check the website for more information or to make a donation to the Dog Run:

How to find it: Enter at 108th St and Riverside Drive and take the stairs down two flights and head south. When you hear doggy yelps of delight, you’ll know you’re there.

If you are curious why the Hudson Beach Café was shut down, well it seems it was the work of the City Health Department according to the West Side Rag.
